Ocean Sleepwear Sleeping Bags

Made from warm pile similar to your mid-layer worn on deck, pile inner bags are the best performing material to have when wet. Pile is virtually as good wet as it is when dry. Another advantage of pile is that it’s easily machine washable so you can just pop it in the washing machine at the end of your voyage and it’s as good as new - Just think how long you have been using your present sleeping bag without washing it!

“I am still using the original bag after 30,000 miles in the BT Global Challenge 2000, with another 20,000 miles and over two seasons in the Antarctic, the bag still looks as new and is actually the one featured in the pictures on this website.”
Andrew Dare

The outer layer is a waterproof, zip-on breathable shell to keep out the wet and protect the pile from abrasion caused during sailing, tacking and the constant getting in and out experienced during normal sailing. The zips can also be opened from the bottom, letting your feet breathe, while keeping your midriff covered.

They do not pack away as small as a regular camping sleeping bag, but then all they are going to do is live on your bunk for the duration of the voyage. However the complete Ocean Sleepwear® system only weighs 1,780gms, about the same as a regular 4-season bag.

A Velcro strap is provided to enable the bags to be rolled up saving space, and greatly aiding swapping sides, when hot bunking. They come with two stuff sacs, one for the shell &outer and another for the inner bag. This makes it easy to carry the bags to and from the yacht, but also gives you the option of storing the inner ashore, if you want, during warmer weather, and of course you can ship the inner on to the next leg, when sailing on tropical legs, saving weight onboard when racing.
