Design & Construction
The Fully waterproof fleecy covered pillowcase was designed for the Volvo Ocean Race 2005 The brief was to be really comfortable, yet be practical onboard a typical, wet, race yacht. Normal pillowcases get wet quite quickly from your damp hair and salt water will never dry out. The OS Pillowcase combines a fully taped waterproof fabric inner to keep your precious pillow dry, but covered in a thin Microfleece outer that will give you superb comfort and will be a cosy place to rest your weary head.
The opening is sealed with a thin totally waterproof zip and is covered by a fleece flap, so as not to compromise the comfort.
If space and weight are at a premium, you can stuff spare clothes such as a fleece or jacket, inside the pillowcase to give you some support and they will remain dry no matter what.
Normally polyester pillows would be the only suggestion to carry onboard, as they soak up less water, however now you can have the benefit and luxury of a down and feather pillow, without the fear of getting it wet and rendering it useless.
